Wild Weather Slam Dunks Christchurch

March 18th 2007 04:24
Hi everyone

Wow, what a strange week of weather we are having in the garden city! Last Monday night was the hottest night for the last two years, only to be followed by the first snow on the alps on Tues night.
Anyway Saturday was a balmy 31deg with a very warm wind blowing for most of the day.
Today started out not too bad and at 1pm, I decided to pop out for a drive and take some photos for the post Christchurch Weather Eye.

After taking these photos I thought i would pop into Eastgate Mall for a quick wander around and whilst in there, I could hear the hail and thunder but was amazed at the conditions upon getting outside.

There is a cyclist out there somewhere?

Pretty amazing as the photos don't really show the amount of water as when I was driving along after making a very quick dash to the car, water was bubbling up out of the drain grates.

After all that, it has turned out sunny and I have discovered a great new coffee place called Machinos along Rutland St, only open 8-4 but great coffee, clean and cosy, so well worth a visit.

Shall leave you with thought for the day 'Criticise less. Discover the power of Praise.'

We too have had wild weather over here, last week was spring like with temperatures around 16 degrees and then on Sunday we had torrential rain and light snow! Scotland and Belfast are covered in snow...the worlds weather is changing.

Thanks for that, yes I agree, the weather is a bit strange at times as it was 31 deg on Sat and when I lived in rural Norfolk in the UK as a child, I recall our village being snowed in for a couple of weeks.
Mind you, we tend to think that a couple of hundred years is a long time but in geologicial time of the earth, its just a blink of an eye, so maybe the weather is just one of those patterns?
Thanks for reading my post
