Swordmanship skills and horse riding needed!

April 22nd 2007 04:11
Hello there

As bit of a method writer and currently writing a fictional fantasy trilogy, I am looking for anyone or groups that could give me a grounding in the art of swordsmanship and improve my horse riding skills. As when I write about something, I like to have some experience of what I am talking about and also to know what is possible and what isn't. I have a basic ability of horse riding, although you need to read one of my earlier posts regarding that, but I would like to improve those skills.

So if anyone out there can help or point me in the right direction then that would be great, just leave a comment in the comments box with details and I will contact you.

Also would be more than happy to write a blog on the process regarding teaching me these skills and services that individuals/groups could offer. I could also be inspired to create a new character for my novel based on my teacher.

Have a great day

Hey Hal,

Wish I could be of service to ya but the last time I went horse riding was disasterous and if I handled a sword I would probably chop an ear off or something.

I am not sure if they will be able to help you with some information but there is a museum up here called 'The Abbey Museum of Art and Archaeology' Really Long Link maybe they can be of some assistance in pointing you in the right direction.

Good luck!

Can't help with your request, but good to see a fellow-New Zealander on Orble. Thought I was the only one!

LOL. I'm not really a Kiwi either! I was born in Melbourne, but I've lived here for more than fifty of my sixty plus years, so I tend to regard myself as a Kiwi!

Nope, it's not bad here. You're obviously in the North Island where people always imagine it's cold in Dunedin! LOL
