Canterbury People – Blair Corkran, RentaTriumph Rentals & Tours, Christchurch

December 31st 2007 02:38
Canterbury People is an online feature which I run to showcase Canterbury and its diversity of people.

Today I had the opportunity to chat with Blair Corkran, owner/operator of local company RentaTriumph. They specialize in Triumph motorcycle rental due to Triumphs proven comfort, reliability and performance, offering an exceptional experience for the discerning customer who wants something just a little bit different.

H
‘Have motorcycles always been an interest for you?’

B
‘Yes, they have, for when I was younger I had a few Japanese bikes but now Triumph bikes are my passion’.

H
‘Is there much of a following for Triumph bikes here in NZ?’

B
‘Yes, there is a strong and growing following here in NZ and I am the local group organizer for the Triumph Club (Canterbury)

H
‘Do you have to own a Triumph to be a member then?’

B
‘Not really, although most of our members do own a Triumph, if they had a friend with another make of bike for example, we don’t tend to mind too much if they came on one of our rides’.

H
‘So what made you want to start the business of rental motorcycles?’

B
‘I guess it’s partly due to my interest with motorcycles and about creating an opportunity to allow customers, local and overseas to experience the joys of motorcycling and riding a Triumph motorcycle in this great country of ours’.

H

‘You sound quite driven and passionate in regards to your bikes and offering something different for overseas tourists to experience?’

B
‘I am very committed to ensuring that my customers local and international have the best experience possible, as I view my role like being an ambassador for NZ and I enjoy meeting new people and planning places/tours for them to visit’.

H
‘So if you had to tour around NZ, what bike would you choose?’

B
‘I would go for the Tiger as it has all-round practicality and comfort – a broad, supportive seat for rider and pillion, relaxed ergonomics and efficient half fairing and screen – but also a composure and sporting ability that few, if any, can match’.

H
‘Final question, so what would be your dream bike?’

B
‘Hmmm tough one that but if I could have any bike, I guess it would be an old school Indian motorcycle’.

Blair currently has three models of Triumph to rent ranging from the Triumph Tiger, Sprint ST and the Speedmaster. All information can be found on their excellent website www.rentatriumph.co.nz, alternatively Blair can be contacted on email: info@rentatriumph.co.nz or 027-687-5600/ 03-388-0302

Prices are very competitive and they also offer free hotel, motel pickup and drop off (minimum one week hire) and secure luggage storage if required.

Blair and Anne Maree, thank you for your time.
