A Trip to Pigeon Bay, Banks Peninsula, Christchurch
November 12th 2007 07:46
Sunday was a cracker of a day, so after giving the motorbike a good clean, it was time to hit the road with my camera. The quickest way was to go through the Lyttelton tunnel and I had to admit that the throaty rort of the bike exhausts sounded pretty good echoing in the confined space of the tunnel. Then as you come out into the daylight, take a right turn which leads you onto the Govenors Bay road, this is good riding for bikes and on the weekends during the summer, its just bike central along here.
Once through Allandale you come to the Wheatsheaf Tavern and this is usually a popular stop for bikers. Then follow the road around to Diamond Harbour before coming to Purau Bay, with an uphill climb, followed by a long descent to Pigeon Bay.
Stop at St Pauls church
Imagine waking up to this view every morning
Overall a very enjoyable ride, approx 130kms and got a few nice pics too.
thought for the day 'When the going gets tough, the tough keep going'
