Old Buildings of Christchurch, NZ

The other week when I was having a wander around Smiths Book shop a curious thought struck me, I started to wonder just how many people noticed things that weren't in their immediate vision. As when I was in Melbourne, I noticed that if you took the time to look above all the glizty and modern shop fronts, then there was some amazing architecture there and as I wandered around Manchester St, Sol Square and Litchfield St in Christchurch, it was nice to discover some of the old buildings still standing.
Old movie picture house/ church, Tuam St ( although it seems the cross has now been removed for the centre brackets)
Back ally just off Sol Square lane
Evidence of past times always interest me and I wonder how many people walk past below it without noticing?
Bit of urban decay always attracts my attention
This cabbage tree intrigued me as a few questions came to mind, if the fence wasn't there would it run away? No but seriously I was amazed to see it growing there and more the fact it hadn't been cut down by a shop owner?
Some nice old fashioned brickwork
Old signage- His Lordships Lane
Litchfield St, Chch
Hair salon/Honey Pot cafe buildings
Corner of High St & Litchfield St, Chch
Fire escape and window box- Manchester St
Hmm looks like some repair work is needed?
Shops- Manchester St
Decorative edging- Manchester St
I hope you have enjoyed these pics, a little different I know but I'm always fascinated by the things that aren't normally noticed.
Thought for the day 'Do not ask the world to change. Change yourself.
