Movie Rewind - Transformers

The Earth is caught in the middle of an intergalactic war between two races of robots, the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons, which are able to change into a variety of objects, including cars, trucks, planes and other technological creations. (net sourced)
Now I can honestly say that I'm not a big transformers fan although my foster kids in the UK, used to have a lot of the toys, but as it was a mates birthday then it was time for bit of a boys night.
The start of the film showed great promise as one of the Decepticons took out a US army base in the middle east and the battle against the machine as a Spooky gunship poured fire down onto it was very cool. But then the film seemed to go down hill rather quickly, almost as if it couldn't decide if it was being aimed at children or adults? The love interest between the main characters was by the numbers plotting with a bit of wooden acting thrown in.
One of the things that let the movie down was some of that characters, they introduce a scientist (complete with heavy Aussie accent) and a hip hop computer hacker whiz and what happens to them? Who would know as it seems that halfway through the movie the director forgot about them? Even a 1st grade fillm student would know better than that.
The fight scenes were very busy and as if you would still be running around in the street with mega robots fighting above you?
This movie has had alot of good reviews although I can't think why?? This is good for kids but to be honest I would wait until its on dvd at your local rental store and I wouldn't pay the $8.00 overnight rental cost either. Just bit of a mess really and I'm suprised they can get away with making films like this, unless its the same as Pirates 3 which is by the numbers money spinning film making?
