Movie Rewind - The Fantastic Four
April 4th 2007 08:45
As the title suggests, this is a review of The Fantastic Four movie
Plot Synopsis:
When an experimental space voyage goes awry, four people are changed by cosmic rays. Reed Richards, inventor and leader of the group gains the ability to stretch his body, and takes the name, Mr. Fantastic. His girlfriend, Sue Storm, gains the ability to turn invisible and create force fields, calling herself the Invisible Woman. Her younger brother Johnny Storm gains the ability to control fire, including covering his own body with flame, becoming the Human Torch. Pilot Ben Grimm is turned into a super-strong rock creature calling himself Thing. Together, they use their unique powers to explore the strange aspects of the world, and to foil the evil plans of Doctor Doom. Written by {Laffz00@aol.com} (net sourced)
Now this came out in 2005 and I recall seeing it advertised at the movies but never actually got round to seeing it until now, 6 dvds for $5.00 from the local dvd shop. To be honest, I'm pretty glad I didn't go to the movies for this as I thought it was pretty average. Over the years there has been a rush to transform comic book heros into film and very few of them make the transition well, exceptions to this rule is Spiderman 1 & 2, Hellboy and Sincity, oh and V for Vendetta. Myself I always was a Judge Dredd fan and the less said about that movie the better. Anyway bit off the track here, so will refocus.
The movie was a by the numbers pop corn, no brainer really, yes Jessica Alba looked great in her close fitting outfit, so guess that was the teenage market sorted out, but I found it pretty average although hopefully, the next instalment of the francise The Rise of the Silver Surfer might be better?? Although I'm not upto speed with the F4 universe, so hard to comment further on that, so guess it will be watch this space.
Overall, good for the kids or the wet winter Sunday but other than that I wouldn't expect too much.
