Kiwi Batsmen open a can of Whup-Ass on the Aussies
February 17th 2007 07:55
Well what can you say? Apart from Hoo-Hah! The poor old Aussie cricket team got well and truely thrashed by an energised and focused Black Caps. With out just four of their superstar players, the Aussies were like a second 11 side, making a puny 148 after losing the toss, from 49.3 overs.
Shane Bond was the star with 5 wickets including a brilliant caught and bowled that had the commentators talking for ages about how it was one of the best catches of all time. Although to be fair, if anyone saw the caught and bowled by Brett Lee(Aus) the other week, they reckon he had to react in 0.42 of a second as the ball was still going 120kms when knocked back to him, so I feel they should have mentioned this also?
But the Black Caps were there with a purpose and everyone played a part, with the only negative point was a fractured finger that Jacob Oram substained (ouch).
So with Aussie in the field and Fleming and Vincent opening the batting, it was game on!
Vincent went straight into attack mode, with both players doing some very quick running to grab an increasing number of single runs.
Fleming took a while to get settled and it was almost like watching Atherton/Stewart at the crease, as Atherton would always take a while to get settled in whilst Stewart would attack from the first ball ( absolute dream to watch).
Anyway the Aussies brought in a bowler called Bracken, who has troubled Fleming in the past and he was very unlucky not to get him out as quite a few got past his guard.
Both players rode their luck abit, but thats cricket although the Aussies in the outfield were pretty woeful! The keeper did have a chance at a catch, diving to his right to get a glove upon a nicked edge but nothing was going the Aussies way and runs were scored.
Although sitting home and watching it on tv, it's easy to be an arm chair critic but in real life, the keeper is alot further away than he looks on tv.
The piece of fielding was when Vincent skied a delivery up in to the air and he was so convinced he was going to be caught by the nearby fielders that he started to walk, only to be amazed ( as were the crowd) as none of the fielders called for it and dropped into their middle!!
And with only 6 runs needed, what happened next? Well Vincent smacked a bloody great 6 into the stands!!! Hoo-Hah!
Anyway a great win for the Black Caps 149 with Fleming not out on 70 and Vincent not out on 73, so good on them.
Next match on sun arvo, so wont be doing much that day hehe

Will leave the final comment of the match to Neilsen from the Simpsons 'Haha'

I'm so pissed off that Ricky Ponting didn't have his mobile phone with him on the ground ... I sent him an SMS Text Message:
Joke, okay?
As much as I love it when Australia wins ... It's nice every decade or so to see them lose one game ...
***
And see how excited the teams that rarely, if ever, beat us get, and now excited their poor supporters get for a brief moment ... (which won't last for more than a match ... btw
All tongue in cheek, okay? ...
