Joys of road cycling in Christchurch
July 1st 2007 05:05
After a spell of cold wet weather, we were very lucky to have a couple of quite nice days here in the Garden City, so making the most of it, I decided to go for an early morning road ride. Now apart from my commute to work, which is 10kms each way and the Coast to Coast ride on fully ladened bikes, it was a refreshing change to go for a ride on my road bike.
I must be honest and admit that it has been a good couple of months since I last rode it but it was a joy to be on a quick and responsive machine, instead of my commuting/touring bike.
I decided to make my way through town before heading out to Sumner and back.
Looking towards the city and the mountains in the background (although don't think they show up that well?)
Looking towards Southshore
If you happen to be passing through Sumner, Coffee Culture is always a great place to stop and there were a few cyclists already there when I arrived.
Now to write the next post regarding the HMNZS Canterbury that has been in Lyttelton harbour since Thurs.

Where/when's your next trip?

Not too sure when my next trip will be as developing my fine art photography business is taking a bit of focus at the moment and the usual chesnut regarding money, but Nepal would be good as got a couple of ideas forming too!
Take it easy
