Iconic Christchurch Shop- Smiths Bookshop

I was wandering around the central city over the weekend and was doing a bit of photography, when I stopped to take alook in an iconic Christchurch shop.
Smiths Bookshop
Now I have no idea how long Smiths bookshop has been based in Chch but judging from the layout and style of fittings, I should imagine quite a while. Although I like shops like this as they are a real treasure trove of items and you never know what you might find, just very cool! There must have been a shelf for almost every subject going, from sports, NZ history, travel, war etc, you name it and I guess they would have had it. Plus old magazines, postcards, maps, drawings, you know those sort of hard to find things that you only remember from when you were young.

As you can see there is quite a bit of stock over the three floors, so well worth a visit as there must be something for everyone here as I picked up an 1963 Arrow edition of the classic novel The Devil Rides Out by Dennis Wheatley, with a cool 60s design cover for just $3, bargin, so Smiths Bookshop is in Manchester St, Christchurch, so check it out if you happen to be passing.
