Great Food, Great Time, Great Service at Topkapi Turkish Kebab House, Christchurch

With a big celebration approaching, I was faced with the task of trying to find a restaurant that could cater for a large group(26 plus), have a good atmosphere and serve the meals all at the same time and be in the central city area. At first I thought this would be easy to find somewhere but after the first couple of places I tried came back with unable to cater for such a large number or weren’t actually that helpful, I had to go back to the drawing board.
There are a few places that can cater for large groups but they can come over giving you the feeling of conveyer belt catering and I was specifically looking for a more relaxed, intimate dining experience.
I was bit of a loss until one of my work colleagues asked if I had thought about Topkapi Turkish Kebab House? I hadn’t, so I made enquires and they were more than happy to help and to meet all my requirements. So the booking was made and last night was a special celebration of my 40th and also 10 years since I moved to NZ.
With a strong background in the customer service sector, it was a real pleasure to dine somewhere with spot on customer service. From the moment we walked through the door, the level of service and attention never wavered, from making sure that the guests all had drinks, to food being served at the same time, bringing out a birthday cake with candles and impromptu cake slicing by one of the chefs. This combined with very tasty authentic meals and relaxed atmosphere made for a very enjoyable night and took me back to my travels around the Mediterranean.
Mixed Iskander - choice of beef & chicken or lamb & chicken on a bed of rice with salad & yoghurt, mild chilli sauce (my meal and very nice too).
So if you are looking somewhere relaxed for lunch or dinner at a competative price, then you would be hard pushed to find somewhere better as everyone of my guests commented on how enjoyable the night had been.
