Food Review of The Coffee House, Christchurch, NZ
May 6th 2007 07:43
Hi everyone
I was in central Christchurch today, looking around the Arts Centre with a friend and just had to post a review on the Coffee House. Firstly I apologise for not having my note book to hand and didn't think to take a pic of the meal until I had nearly finished, will do better next time
Anyway, we decided to go for a late lunch and it was a choice of the Dux d Lux or the Coffee House, but as my friend hadn't been to the Coffee House before, that was the choice made.
I have over the years been a regular customer there and a few years ago, I used to go twice a week in the winter to write my novel. It was great sitting by the fire on a cold winters night, spending a couple of hours writing and people watching, plus the fact that as soon as I walked in, the staff knew my order, so I just used to sit down and start writing.
Over the last year or so, it has changed ownership and to be honest, the service and food has only got better, which leads me to our meal. My friend had a salmon bagel and I had potato fritters with salmon slices and salad, covered with dressing. Now I can't give you the actual names of the meals nor the actual ingredients as I didn't have my note book, but it was just so yummy. Every bite was a real treat with that melt in your mouth feeling when you just want to savour all the different tastes with every mouthful.
I won't say too much more apart from, you really need to go there and taste it yourself, so regardless of if you are a local or an overseas tourist planning to visit Chch, you need to put The Coffee House on your list to visit! As it also offers a good NZ wine list, specials board and menu. Plus as the name suggests, damm fine coffee in a nice relaxing enviroment!

For overseas readers and North Islanders, you can google The Coffee House and it comes up with info and reviews.
Also I have been asked a couple of times about my blog in regards to income and why do I do it? At present it is totally non profit, I run this as a hobby although this is increasing in my commitment as my ideas and direction I intend for my blog grow.

Best food and coffee in Chch, how long will take you to fly over in your cessna? Now that would be a real blog post, lol. Chch has some great old buildings so will see if I can take some pics and put them on for everyone to enjoy.
Cheers
