Christchurch Weather Eye

May 1st 2007 08:37
Hi everyone

Today was a damp misty day in the Garden City, with heavy low cloud cover for most of the morning.

As you can see a very murky day, the weather was cold and wet on Saturday although turned out nice for Sunday. Forecast for the rest of week is pretty much rain over the whole country so winter is finally arriving and it won't be long before snow appears on the Alps.

Kiwi,

beautiful shots of Christchurch...loks a bit chilly there, but still breathtaking!

A friend of mine who lives in Canada made a feature film recently in The NZ Alps and said he enjoyed everything about the country, the people and the climate...

Have to put NZ on my "must visit" list for future reference!

Great post!

Take care,

Nick

you just seem to be a switched on guy who comments on a lot of things - weather, clothing, travel, books, dvds - was just wondering what you fuel yourself on for these long bike rides.

I am currently living in Perth.

Thanks for that, as for fueling on long bike rides, everyone tends to be different as when doing a long ride or multi day tramp in the alps, I tend to eat and drink heaps, whereas my mate doesn't.

On an average 70-80km ride, I will have pasta bake the night before, then porridge for breakfast followed by toast and oj. After cycling for an hour, will have fruit/ lollies, then usually snack on something every hour until lunch, which will consist of good filled sandwiches, choc bar and ginger nut biccys. I find that I have to refuel all of the time as if you wait until you are hungry then it takes longer for you to get the benefits. After lunch is more snack bars and by the 60km mark, a can of V energy drink is a damm good reward. Usually stop at a bakers shop and buy a curry pie on the way home

Will make notes on this upcoming cycle trip of what worked and what didn't.
How's Perth as never been there although did have a mate living there.

Cheers

Hal
