95km Mtb training ride in and around Christchurch, NZ

Hi everyone
As you all know, its not long until the big trans alpine ride, so this weekend was a training day. Weather was just stunning in Chch, about 22 degs. Anyway I cycled from mine which is close to the beach and rode across town to Lincoln Rd, to meet my mate before we headed off along the Akaroa road.

After a quick rest break, we continued until we came to the turn off for Gebbes Pass which leads you to the Teddington/Governors Bay road. Upon reaching the summit, this was a good time to take in the view and relax for 30 mins.
Lunch time.
After the break it was a quick descent before following the rolling road around to Lyttelton.

This Governors Bay road is very popular with motor cyclists as well as racing cyclists especially on such a great day as we had. After another quick rest in Lyttelton, it was bit of a grind up the Sumner road to Evans Pass. Not so much of it being hard, more the fact we were both getting a bit tired by this stage and to be honest my knee was giving me real jip and back was getting sore too. After that it was a even quicker descent hitting about 65km downhill into Sumner before facing the headwind all the way back to mine.
So in total 95kms and it felt like it too, being frank my lower back is pretty tender at present two days on, so will need to cover this option on the ride, but other than aching hands and a dodgy knee, it was a nice 7 hr ride including breaks.
