12 Questions for kiwiauthor by Michelle Clark

Hi everyone
This will be one of the new features I intend to run and couldn't ask anyone else to do something I wouldn't do myself. So a big thank you to Michelle from my writers group for coming up with the following questions.
1What was your first job?
My first job apart from a paper boy, would have been working as a trainee in the Parks & Gardens dept of a local council
2 What has given you the most pleasure in the last year?
Starting and developing my blog has been a great move, with new ideas and opportunities forming everyday. Although hiring the BMW bike for that day was just an awesome blast.
3Name a famous person you would like to have lunch with?
Hard to pin it down to just one person I’m afraid, Richard Branson would be one as he always does what people advise can’t be done, so a great inspiration plus he throws great parties. Bill and Melinda Gates would be another as I would find it fascinating to talk about their foundation they have set up.
4 What three books (records, movies, Presidents) would you take with you if you were stranded on an island?
I guess I would take my hard back copy of The Lord of the Rings, my family photo album and a comprehensive ultimate survival guide that came with a free Swiss army knife. (Not cheating is it?)
5 If you could live any time in history, what age would you choose?
Even though I am a history buff and would like to visit different time periods, I think with the internet and the opportunity to reach a world wide audience, the present is pretty good at the moment.
6 What was your greatest opportunity?
Coming to New Zealand and Christchurch 8 years ago and starting up my blog this year.
7 Have you ever used any of your experiences in previous or current jobs as the basis for incidents in The Chronicles of Lamora?
Yes, I spent a year on archaeological digs around Roman Colchester in the UK, also experience in the police gives you a different perspective on how people can act.
8 Are any of the characters in the chronicles based on real people, including yourself?
All my characters are a mixture of real people, including myself as to make them come alive, they have to have real traits, emotions, habits etc. Writers should always ask 'What if?'
That way I ask myself what if my character could or couldn't do that etc.
11 Where do you do most of your writing?
In my office/bedroom, although I have been known to spend a few hours in a certain coffee house and write.
12 If You could pick anywhere, where would you most like to live and write in the world?
New Zealand is still tops, but would like to live on a lifestyle block where I could see the mountains. It would also be very nice to be able to spend six months somewhere overseas and write.
Thanks for those great questions Michelle and for any readers out there, I have one of Michelle's stories on my short story blog and she is currently working on a teenage detective story which is still a work in progress.
